Many people would be familiar with the newly constructed Granville Harbour wind farm on the west coast. This project showed how such projects can make a material difference to the local community, as well as the broader regional economies of the west coast and the north west.

The project directly injected some $300m into the Tasmanian economy, with the indirect effect consultants and transporters. It also gave the town of Zeehan a big lift, pushing cash through the economy via accommodation, retail, food and beverage, even pop-up coffee carts.

The project showed what can be done – but there is potential to do so much more.
